“ In architecture, the difference between inside and outside is often initially determined by climatic considerations. The built structure is intended to create a regulated climate suitable for the human body or the conditions for the otherwise intended activities.

The relationship to the outside is often of great importance. Openings ( usually glazed) provide a view of the surroundings of the architecture. Visual connections are established on the view from the inside directed in certain directions.

The threshold is of particular importance: it signals the transition between inside and outside. It can also mark the boundary between a space that is perceived as public or private, or more generally who has access to certain spaces. One of the simplest thresholds is the door, almost two-dimensional. But there are also thresholds that are more gradual and spatial: a gate, a front garden, an arcade, then an entrance area, and so on.

The works of Klasse Bock (former Klasse Pitz) can be found both in their classroom and in the area surrounding the academy. The artists set these spaces in relation to each other and explore continuities, but also contrasts between inside and outside.
